Best Practices in Fishkeeping:
One of the most important methods of fishkeeping is biological isolation. All our koi are kept in holding tanks for quarantine periods when received, injured, or ill. We do our best to keep fish that arrived in a group together for as long as possible. Each time a new fish is introduced there is a chance for a new pathogen to be introduced as well. Our next best method of preventing disease is UV sterilization. All our ponds are equipped with UV sterilizers set at a flow rate to eliminate any viruses, parasites, and algae that passes through the water column.

We also periodically test our koi and water quality for any signs of illness or disease. Behavior studies and recordkeeping are just as important to help identify fish with weak immune systems or recovering from injury. Our suppliers provide us with proof of testing for KHV and other diseases so we do not have to worry about contaminating your pond with a virus or other pathogen.
